Розмова з Юрієм Васільєвим про Moneyphestor DJ School

Юрію, сьогодні Вас називають одним із найуспішніших українських артистів, які заявили про себе за кордоном. З чого почався Ваш шлях на великі сцени?

Мій шлях у музиці стартував ще у 2001 році в Одесі. Я починав з міських конкурсів — спочатку як учасник, а вже за кілька років мене запрошували на великі сцени як професійного DJ на різноманітні події. В 2005 році я отримав резиденцію в одному з найбільших одеських клубів — club YO, який збирав до 2000 людей за ніч. Це був серйозний етап становлення в професії. А у 2008 році я став резидентом легендарного клубу Ibiza (Одеса) — можливо, найвідомішого клубу України. Там виступали такі зірки, як David Guetta, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Bob Sinclar, Kelly Rowland.
Для мене це був важливий момент — робота поруч із артистами світового рівня формує зовсім інший професійний стандарт. Після клубу Ibiza я переїхав до Києва за запрошенням клубу barSky (пізніше «SkyBar»), одного з найпрестижніших закладів столиці. Там я також став резидентом. Усе це заклало фундамент моєї техніки і професійного стилю.

Ви гастролюєте з 2008 року. Якими були ключові моменти вашої міжнародної діяльності?

Міжнародна частина кар’єри почалась досить стрімко. Я виступав у: Білорусі, Туреччині, Казахстані, Молдові, Німеччині, Іспанії, Нідерландах, Польщі, Дубаї, Португалії. Також були виступи в Барселоні та на Ібіці. Це сформувало моє професійне мислення: кожна країна має свій стиль вечірок, свій ритм, свого слухача. Після переїзду до США гастролі охопили Чикаго, Нью-Йорк, Філадельфію, Вашингтон, Орландо та Флориду. Це зовсім інший масштаб — технічний, організаційний і ринковий.

Ваше ім’я вже багато років асоціюється з міжнародними релізами та співпрацею з відомими артистами. Які проекти стали для вас ключовими з точки зору визнання та професійного статусу?

Одними з найбільш значущих стали два офіційні релізи з французьким вокалістом AKRAM. Ці роботи відкрили для мене нові ринки й аудиторії, а також отримали помітну підтримку на міжнародних музичних платформах.

Дуже важливим проектом для був офіційний ремікс на трек Олега Кензова. Робота з артистом такої популярності стала професійним викликом і вважаю що з цим добре впорався.

Важливо що мою роботу високо оцінюють такі міжнародні колеги, як Korolova, Miss Monique, ARTBAT, Benny Benassi, David Vendetta, Spartaque та Serge Devant.
Це артисти світового рівня які впливають на галузь. Ми не лише підтримуємо одне одного як професіонали, але й регулярно співпрацюємо в різних форматах — від творчих обмінів до участі в спільних музичних івентах та проектах. Це значить що рухаюся в правильному напрямку: роботи знаходять відгук у артистів, які представляють найвищий міжнародний рівень.

Розмова з Юрієм Васільєвим про Moneyphestor DJ School

Коли ви переїхали до США, ваша популярність помітно виросла. У чому головні зміни?

Переїзд до США став великою сходинкою в житті. Тут індустрія працює на зовсім іншому рівні — конкуренція висока, стандарти жорсткі, а кожен виступ оцінюється за професійними критеріями, саме це середовище дає сильний поштовх до розвитку.

У Porterhouse MIA я працював офіційним DJ, а згодом став артдиректором, відповідаючи за музичну концепцію закладу, добір артистів і формування атмосфери подій. Це був серйозний управлінський досвід, який навчив мене працювати з індустрією комплексно — не лише як артист, а й як музичний куратор.

Виступи для організації VSE SVOI у Філадельфії, Чикаго та Майамі дали мені статус артиста, який активно працює в різних штатах, що важливо для американського ринку.

Сьогодні я є одним із найбільш упізнаваних DJ у WAVE Club Miami, де представляю українську та СНД-спільноту. Це сценa з високими вимогами до якості сетів, техніки та артистизму і мені приємно відповідати цьому рівню.

Ваша школа Moneyphestor DJ School дуже швидко стала помітним освітнім проектом у Флориді. Як ви вважаєте, чому саме США стали ідеальним місцем для створення школи та реалізації ваших професійних амбіцій?

США — це країна з найдинамічнішою івент-індустрією у світі. Тут кожна подія, від маленької приватної вечірки до масштабного клубного шоу, вимагає максимальної професійності. Саме в такому середовищі я можу повністю реалізувати свій досвід і працювати на тому рівні, до якого я йшов багато років.

Флорида стала ідеальним місцем, тому що попит на DJ тут величезний. Ринок зростає швидше, ніж кількість підготовлених артистів, і це створило унікальне вікно можливостей для моєї школи і якщо ти даєш якість, двері відкриваються дуже швидко.

Moneyphestor DJ School органічно вписалася в ці умови. Наш інтенсивний формат підготовки відповідає американському підходу: без зайвих слів, лише практика, швидкий прогрес і чіткий результат. Тому студенти одразу після курсу можуть виходити на сцену й працювати у реальних умовах.

Для мене важливо, що в Флориді я можу навчати техніці і створювати нову хвилю артистів, які відповідатимуть високим стандартам США. Це саме те середовище, в якому я можу досягти своїх професійних цілей і допомогти іншим зробити кар’єру як DJ.

“A Ukrainian who became an influential DJ in the US: a conversation with Yurii Vasiliev, founder of Moneyphestor DJ School”

Yurii, today you are considered one of the most successful Ukrainian artists who have made a name for themselves abroad. How did your journey to the big stage begin?

My journey in music began back in 2001 in Odesa. I started with city competitions — first as a participant, and after a few years I was invited to perform on big stages as a professional DJ at various events. In 2005, I became a resident DJ at one of the largest clubs in Odesa — Club YO, which attracted up to 2,000 people per night. It was a significant stage in my professional development. As a result, in 2008, I became a resident DJ at the legendary Ibiza Club (Odesa), perhaps the most famous club in Ukraine. Stars such as David Guetta, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Bob Sinclar, and Kelly Rowland performed there.

It was an important moment for me — working alongside world-class artists shapes a completely different professional standard. After Ibiza, I moved to Kyiv at the invitation of bar Sky (later SkyBar), one of the most prestigious establishments in the capital. I also became a resident there. All of this laid the foundation for my technique and professional style.

You have been touring since 2008. What were the key moments of your international career?

The international part of my career started quite rapidly. I performed in Belarus, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Dubai, and Portugal. I also performed in Barcelona and Ibiza. This shaped my professional thinking: every country has its own style of parties, its own rhythm, and its own audience. After moving to the US, my tours covered Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Orlando, and several cities across Florida. This marked a completely different scale — technically, organizationally, and in terms of the market.

For many years, your name has been associated with international releases and collaborations with famous artists. Which projects have been key for you in terms of recognition and professional status?

Two official releases with French vocalist AKRAM were among the most significant. These works opened up new markets and audiences for me, and also received notable support on international music platforms.

A very important project for me was the official remix of Oleg Kenzov’s track. Working with such a popular artist was a professional challenge, and I think I handled it well.

It is important that my work is highly appreciated by such international colleagues as Korolova, Miss Monique, ARTBAT, Benny Benassi, David Vendetta, Spartaque, and Serge Devant.

These are world-class artists who influence the industry. We not only support each other as professionals, but also regularly collaborate in various formats — from creative exchanges to participation in joint music events and projects. This means that I am moving in the right direction: my work resonates with artists who represent the highest international level.

When you moved to the US, your popularity grew significantly. What were the main changes?

Moving to the US was a big step in my life. Here, the industry operates on a completely different level — competition is high, standards are strict, and every performance is evaluated according to professional criteria. It is this environment that provides a strong impetus for development.

At Porterhouse MIA, I worked as the official DJ and later became the art director, responsible for the musical concept of the venue, the selection of artists, and the atmosphere of the events. It was a serious management experience that taught me to work with the industry in a comprehensive way — not only as an artist but also as a music curator.

Performing for the VSE SVOI organization in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Miami gave me the status of an artist who is actively working in different states, which is important for the American market.

Today, I am one of the most recognizable DJs at WAVE Club Miami, where I represent the Ukrainian and CIS community. This is a scene with high demands on the quality of sets, technique, and artistry, and I am pleased to meet this level.

Your school, Moneyphestor DJ School, quickly became a prominent educational project in Florida. Why do you think the US was the ideal place to establish a school and realize your professional ambitions?

The US is the country with the most dynamic event industry in the world. Here, every event, from a small private party to a large-scale club show, requires maximum professionalism. It is in this environment that I can fully realize my experience and work at the level I have been striving for for many years.

Florida became the ideal place because the demand for DJs here is huge. The market is growing faster than the number of trained artists, and this has created a unique window of opportunity for my school. If you deliver quality, doors open very quickly.

Moneyphestor DJ School fits organically into these conditions. Our intensive training format corresponds to the American approach: no unnecessary words, only practice, rapid progress, and clear results. Therefore, immediately after the course, students can go on stage and work in real conditions.

It is important to me that in Florida I can teach technique and create a new wave of artists who will meet the high standards of the US. This is exactly the environment in which I can achieve my professional goals and help others pursue a career as a DJ.
